Most people looking up jawtox want two answers: will it actually slim my jaw, and what does it really cost. Here is both, including who it does not suit.

What is jawtox?

Jawtox is masseter Botox. A doctor injects botulinum toxin into the masseter, the muscle on each side of your jaw that you can feel bulge when you clench your teeth. The toxin relaxes that muscle, and over the following weeks the muscle gradually reduces in bulk from being used less.

Two things happen as it does. The lower face looks slimmer and softer along the jawline, because the width on the sides has come down. And the constant tension eases, which is why the same treatment is used for teeth grinding and jaw clenching.

So jawtox does two jobs from one treatment, one cosmetic and one medical.

How much is jawtox in the Philippines?

Jawtox is priced per unit, not per treatment, and that is where almost all the confusion comes from. Botox-type treatments are quoted per unit, roughly ₱200 to ₱500 each in the Philippines, and a masseter treatment needs a number of units on each side. So a low figure you see advertised is usually the price of one unit, not the price of the treatment. When you compare clinics, ask every one of them for the full treatment price so you are comparing like with like.

What moves your figure:

  • How many units your muscle needs. A stronger, bulkier masseter needs more units to relax it. This is the single biggest reason two people pay very different prices for the same treatment.
  • The brand of toxin. Korean brands generally cost less per unit than United States brands. Both are legitimate in the hands of a licensed doctor.
  • Who injects you. A doctor-led clinic prices differently from a walk-in promo.

At One Nadela: ₱450 per unit. A jawtox typically takes 50 to 60 units depending on what the doctor finds at assessment, so the full treatment starts at around ₱22,500. Your exact figure is confirmed at consultation, after the doctor has assessed how much muscle actually needs relaxing.

We are not the cheapest quote you will find, and we would rather say why than leave you guessing: this is a doctor-administered treatment, priced as one.

What jawtox can and cannot do

It works best when a wide or square jaw comes from a thick muscle rather than from bone. Many patients who clench or grind have built the masseter up over years, the way any muscle grows with use. Relax it and the shape changes.

It does not reshape bone. If your jaw width comes from the jawbone itself, jawtox softens the look but cannot change the underlying structure. That is exactly what the consultation is for: the doctor assesses the jaw by observation and careful palpation, feeling the muscle directly, to work out whether your jaw shape is muscle, bone, or both, and whether you are a good candidate.

On the medical side, this is what the treatment is primarily for. In Dr. Aquino's words, jawtox is done to relieve the symptoms that come with bruxism: it relaxes the masseter to reduce teeth grinding, and it eases jaw tension and migraines.

When will I see it, and how long does it last?

Results are not immediate. The muscle starts to relax as early as one week, the toxin reaches full effect at two to three weeks, and the slimming itself is usually appreciated at around four weeks.

The effect then typically lasts about four to six months, after which the muscle gradually returns to its previous strength and the treatment is repeated. How long it lasts varies from person to person, mostly with how strong your chewing muscle is and with your own metabolism.

What does a jawtox session involve?

It is a short in-clinic appointment. The doctor assesses your jaw, marks the injection points on each side, then places a series of small injections into the masseter.

Numbing is applied first and left on for 15 to 30 minutes, so expect the whole appointment to take about 40 minutes to an hour.

Downtime is minimal. You may have slight redness or a pinpoint of bleeding where the needle went in, and occasionally light bruising, which settles on its own. Most patients go straight back to their day.

Is jawtox safe, and what are the side effects?

Botulinum toxin has a long track record when it is given by a trained medical injector.

Common side effects are temporary: redness, bruising and swelling. There may also be temporary weakness when chewing, and possibly an uneven smile. These resolve over time.

At your consultation the doctor goes through the risks with you before anything is decided.

Jawtox or HIFU: which one do you need?

This comes up constantly, and the honest answer is that they solve different problems.

  • Jawtox relaxes muscle. It is the right tool when a wide jaw or clenching comes from a thick masseter.
  • HIFU tightens and lifts skin. It is the right tool when the concern is loose or sagging skin along the jawline rather than muscle bulk.

Some patients have both a strong muscle and mild skin laxity, and do better with a combination. The only way to know which applies to you is an assessment, because treating the wrong cause will not give you the result you are picturing.

Do you actually need jawtox?

Not everyone who asks about it does. If your jaw shape comes mainly from bone, or from fat rather than muscle, the doctor will tell you so and point you to what would actually help. We would rather say that at the consultation than take you through a treatment that was never going to work for your face.

Why patients choose One Nadela for jawtox

  • Injected by a doctor, not a technician. Assessment and precise placement are what separate a natural, balanced result from an obvious one.
  • Clinics in Cebu, BGC/Taguig and Makati.
  • A straight answer. If jawtox will not give you the result you want, we say so.

Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to what patients ask most before they book.

How much is jaw Botox in the Philippines?

It is priced per unit, usually ₱200 to ₱500 a unit, and a full masseter treatment needs a number of units on each side. That is why advertised figures can look very low: they are often the price of a single unit. At One Nadela jawtox is ₱450 a unit and typically takes 50 to 60 units, so the treatment starts at around ₱22,500, confirmed exactly at your consultation.

Is jawtox really effective?

For a wide or square jaw caused by a thick chewing muscle, yes. Relaxing the masseter slims the lower face over a few weeks, and it reduces teeth grinding and jaw tension at the same time. It does not change bone, so the result depends on what is causing your jaw shape in the first place.

How long does jawtox last?

The slimming is usually appreciated at around week four, and the effect typically lasts four to six months, after which the treatment is repeated. It varies with how strong your chewing muscle is and with your metabolism.

How many sessions of jawtox do I need?

The result comes from a single treatment, repeated roughly every four to six months to maintain it.

Which is better, HIFU or jawtox?

They treat different things. Jawtox relaxes a thick jaw muscle; HIFU tightens loose skin. Which one you need depends on whether your concern is muscle bulk or skin laxity, and that is what the consultation checks.

Does jawtox hurt?

Numbing is applied first and left on for 15 to 30 minutes, so most patients describe pressure rather than pain. The needles are fine and the injections are brief.

What are the side effects of jawtox?

Usually mild and temporary: redness, bruising and swelling, and possibly temporary weakness when chewing or an uneven smile. These resolve over time.
